Duckwall Fruit is looking for an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician!
The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician operates ammonia gas cooling systems to refrigerate rooms to provide refrigeration for cold storage processes by performing the following duties:
1. Open valves on equipment such as compressors, pumps and condensers to prepare system for operation and start equipment and auxiliary machinery.
2. Observes temperature, pressure and ampere readings for system and equipment and adjusts controls or overrides automatic controls to obtain specified operation of equipment.
3. Records temperature, pressure, and other readings on log sheet at specified intervals.
4. Makes periodic inspection of equipment and system to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustment.
5. Repacks pumps and compressors, cleans condensers, and replaces worn or defective parts.
6. Responds to alarms as required.
7. Performs other duties as assigned by the Refrigeration Supervisor.
General Requirements:
1. Person must be willing to work long and sometimes erratic hours during the season, including nights and weekends, to keep essential equipment in repair and operation.
2. Person must be willing to work under ambient cold storage conditions, i.e. temperatures as low as 25 degrees F.
3. Must be able to wear an OSHA approved respirator when required for the Emergency Response team.

Physical effort applied may include: Lifting, Pulling, Reaching, Manipulating, Carrying, Pushing, Shoveling, Keying/typing, Climbing.
